The City of Commerce operates under the guidelines of a Home Rule City in the State of Texas. The City Manager is appointed by an elected City Council and works directly for them.
- The City Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City of Commerce and the enforcement of all of the policies that are included in the city’s administrative policies
- By Charter, it is also the City Manager’s responsibility to present an annual budget to the City Council and adhere to the budget once it is approved by Council
