Community Development

The mission of the community development department is to enhance the character and diversity of the City's neighborhoods and support long-term, sustainable economic growth that increases opportunities for residents, enables a high quality of life within the community, and contributes to an attractive, safe and healthy environment for residents and visitors alike. The Community Development Department comprises Building Inspections, Building Permits, and Planning and Development.  These divisions work together to improve the overall quality of life for citizens of Commerce.  

The Community Development Department is ultimately responsible for ensuring compliance with City ordinances and local, state, and federal requirements.
